Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH)

The Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health (ISEH) vision is to be the world’s leading institute of sport, exercise and health, providing excellence in elite sports performance, sports injury prevention and management.

The ISEH is one of three locations forming the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), a major legacy project of the London 2012 Olympics. The Institute provides excellence in sports injury prevention and management; while bridging the gap between elite and amateur sports, and exercise prescription. The ISEH is a partnership between the British Olympic Association, the English Institute of Sport, HCA International, UCL and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).

The ISEH works with the UK’s athletes in four main ways:

  • Offering world-class private and NHS medical facilities for elite and amateur athletes alike, from our clinic in London’s Tottenham Court Road
  • Acting as a research and education hub – we are an IOC-accredited research centre, one of only nine such centres worldwide, and have strong links with UCL, one of the world’s top five universities
  • Working with athletics governing bodies and other organisations to promote public health and physical activity at a national and local level
  • Providing a base for networking, via our centrally-located meeting rooms and our programme of events.
