ASICS UEL Athletics Scholarships
University of East London (UEL) have just launched an exciting new sports scholarship scheme in association with ASICS, one of the university’s major Olympic partners.
UEL are serious about becoming the number 1 university for sport in London by 2015, and Athletics is one of their focus sports. The university had more finalists than ever before at the recent BUCS athletics championships in the Olympic Stadium, and our roster of national and international athletes include Zara Hohn (100m hurdles), Lumar Sylvester (200m), Andre Fernandez (LJ), Matthew Baptiste (Discus and SP) and Kimbely Baptiste (100m and 200m).
Both ASICS and UEL are keen to help athletes reach their sporting potential. As part of the new scholarship, two emerging athletes will receive funding of £5,000 for one year to contribute towards their sporting development. In addition UEL practitioners will provide sports science and sports injury support, academic flexibility and lifestyle counselling.
The ASICS UEL Athletics Scholarships are open to all UEL students and offer-holders irrespective of nationality of course of study.
Applications for the Scholarship, via the online application form, must be received by 13th July 2012. Further information can be obtained here. If you would like any further information, or would like to discuss any of the support programmes at UEL, please contact Elizabeth Egan, High Performance Sport Manager on e.egan@uel.ac.uk.
