A ‘Thank You’ for the So Let’s Go Running Bexley group leaders

As part of the volunteer’s week, the runners at the RunTogether So Let’s Go Running Bexley group decided to make a special ‘Thank You’ to the group leaders Brian Page and Dawn Annett.

Kate Shutt, one of the volunteer leaders and a runner with the group organised some gifts for Brian and Dawn to say thank you to them for giving up their time.

After the weekly session on Saturday 3rd June had finished, the group announced the winner of their monthly Inspiration Award; runner, Alex Slatter. Kate then made the unexpected presentation to Brian and Dawn and thanked them for all the time and support that they give to everyone in the group. Brian and Dawn were both very surprised, but pleased and Brian pointed out that this coincided with the group’s second anniversary.

Alex had this to say "Brian and Dawn, our volunteer Run Leaders are truly inspirational.  They give up so much for us. Not just their time, but their energy and passion and care. They are constantly thinking of new ways to make our runs fun and challenging for all levels - and making sure no one feels left out. They are both great motivators and have affected the lives of so many of us in such a positive way. Not only do they teach us how to run, but they fill us all with confidence, raise our self-esteem and make us better than we ever thought possible.  I don't know where we would be without them. I am more grateful than they could ever know."

So Let’s Go Running Bexley meet on Saturday mornings at East Wickham Open Space in Welling, Kent and offer free sessions suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners who haven’t run before. More information and contact details can be found on www.teampersonalbest.org

What is Team Personal Best?

This Summer our Country plays host to the two biggest World Athletics events, back to back. This is the first time in history and will bring with it increased interest in the sport.

To help celebrate grassroots athletics and running and to be able to clearly signpost newcomers to activities around the country, there is now a website.

For a limited time only, this website is where anyone can register new and existing athletics or running activities or activities with an athletics or running theme, taking place between May and the end of September. The website will be promoted by London 2017, England Athletics and crucially the BBC Get Inspired project, before, during and after the Championships.
