Colleges do battle in new indoor format at Lee Valley

On a very snowy and wintering day at Lee Valley Athletics centre, a new format of competition for athletes in colleges and 6th forms was trialled. Despite the weather causing travelling difficulties for both participants and officials, (including one full team and the starter), there were enough students who were able to attend to make the competition challenging.

Crystal Palace should build new stadium at National Sports Centre, says Martyn Rooney

MARTYN Rooney says Crystal Palace Football Club should move in and build a new stadium at the National Sports Centre as a result of the track's blue-riband event moving to the Olympic Stadium.
The 400-metre sprinter, who is currently away in South Africa on a training camp, is a big Eagles fan and believes there's a lot of potential to house football matches and athletics at the same venue.

Last call for talented athletes to apply for sports foundation funding

Talented athletes across South England have until 20 February to apply for funding for 2013 from the GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) – an independent athlete support scheme set up to support the next generation of sporting stars.

South London Athletics Network Indoor Sprints open at Sutton Arena on Feb 13th has been cancelled (due to a problem with the condition of the track which could result in injury to the athletes.)

Newham Athletics Network are proud to announce that there is a 'High Jump' workshop with Great Britain international high jumper, Samson Oni.

Senior England debut for Shaftsbury's Sebastian Rodger

Sunday the 27th January saw Shaftesbury Barnet Sebastian Rodger, (coached by: Steve King) make his fist senior international debut for the England team in Bratislava. The athlete better known for his exploits over the hurdles was representing England in the indoor 400m event.
Leading from gun Rodger didn't take long to establish a lead before the bell winning race 2 in a time of 47.79 which is a new indoor personal best. The Italian Severi Roberto was second in 49.42.

On his selection and the outstanding season at Shaftesbury, the England under 23 champion said: “Really pleased to get this opportunity, it’s a great start to 2013 on the back of what was a great year (2012). It’s great to complete for England in an individual event and it’s my first senior international so that’s nice, it’s a huge honour.”
