Organisers of the Ealing Half Marathon have announced that the 2017 race has been launched and entries are now open. The 2017 date has been confirmed as Sunday 24th September.
Having been voted the UK’s best half marathon for the last three years by runners at the Running Awards, the Ealing Half Marathon is a firm fixture in the running calendar and is looking forward to welcoming runners of all ages and abilities to its sixth race in 2017.
The launch of next year’s race comes just a couple of weeks after the leafy streets of West London were filled with thousands of runners and spectators for the 2016 race. It proved to be the event’s most successful year to date, five years after it was set up as a legacy to London’s Olympic Games.
The Ealing Half Marathon is well known for its huge community support and lively atmosphere, each year attracting athletes from all the world wanting to soak up the #EalingFeeling. It is expected that general spaces for the 2017 race will sell out in advance, as they did for this year, and those wishing to secure their place early will benefit from a special price freeze early bird entry fee.
A total of 8,000 places are available for 2017 and the price freeze early bird will keep prices the same as for 2016 until 31st December. This means that affiliated athletes registering by the end of 2016 will pay just £36, and unaffiliated athletes £38, to be on the start line in Lammas Park next year. The price then increases in January and again in April 2017.
As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, all money raised by the Ealing Half Marathon is invested straight back into projects and activities within the local community. Much more than just a single day race, the company engages in year-round activities to promote physical activity in local schools, tackle childhood obesity and set up running clubs at schools and for adults. All those who sign up to run the Ealing Half Marathon are directly supporting the race’s work in the community and helping to make a difference.
Race Director Sandra Courtney commented: “We are delighted to launch the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon. This will be the sixth edition of a race that is much loved by athletes from near and far, many of whom return year after year to enjoy the fantastic atmosphere and warm welcome they know they will receive in Ealing. We are looking forward to welcoming runners of all ages and abilities to our event next September, including of course a strong field of elites and plenty of people running to raise money for charity.
“We are offering a very favourable price structure which guarantees the best rates for those booking early. As always, all money raised will support our commitment within the community to make sport and fitness available to all, and we will be working hard to deliver another outstanding race in 2017.”
The Ealing Half Marathon is a UKA measured course covering a traffic-free route around West London. The 13.1-mile single lap course takes runners through parts of Central Ealing, Montpelier, Pitshanger, West Ealing, Hanwell and St Stephens before returning to Lammas Park.
The 2016 Ealing Half Marathon men’s title was won by Josphat Kemei with a time of 01:04:14, and the women’s title was won by Teresiah Omosa with a time of 01:14:45.
In previous years the Ealing Half Marathon has attracted a number of high profile names as race sponsors and partners. Companies wishing to sponsor the 2017 Ealing Half Marathon should contact the race regarding sponsorship package options.
Entries for the Ealing Half Marathon 2017 are now open. Until 31st December 2016 the price freeze early bird fee is £36 for affiliated athletes and £38 for unaffiliated runners. Between 1st January – 30th April 2017 the fee rises to £38-£40, and between 1st May – 31st July 2017 to £40-£42.
The organisers are expecting the race to sell out by the end of July.
