LiRF qualified instructor gets contract as Run England Activator

Jake Waldron University Student and LiRF leader first approached the Run! Athletics Activator Nicole Evans looking to gain volunteer experience within England Athletics whilst he completes his sports degree. He began delivering Run England sessions at the Play On Sports Centre in Tower Hamlets back in November 2011 and has continued to develop the groups; monitoring the group’s progress and building professional relationships of trust and understanding with both the runners and the centre the route begins from. His passion for this role hasn’t stopped there and he decided to apply for the Run England Activator South West London position which is a fixed term part time role, getting support from Run! project activator to prepare for his first ever interview.

Run England have since announced that Jake was successful and will begin his new role on May 28th. Nicole Evans said “Jake has been a real asset to the delivery of sessions at the Play On Centre, giving his time despite the extensive travel he is required to undertake each week. Whilst I am sad to lose him as a volunteer, I am delighted that we have been able to provide a platform for him to progress onto a contracted post which will ultimately help him in his career. I wish him all the very best in his new role!”
